Chippewa Square

Chippewa Square, 2012
acrylic and resin on wood panel 48 x 48 in.

Let's talk about my latest work Chippewa Square for this time! Because on this work I tried something new I've never had, such as using new colors, putting human characters, following the history of Savannah here, biggest one is featuring the very famous movie scene.

So actually this place is very famous as this opening scene of Forrest Gump!

The "park bench" scene which opens the 1994 film Forrest Gump was filmed on the north side of here.

That's here.

So on this my work, the man is wearing the baseball cap is him, yes, he is Gump! And the symbolic feather in this movie is floating around him.

In the center of the square is a bronze statue of Georgia founder General James Oglethorpe.

Oglethorpe faces south, toward Georgia's one-time enemy in Spanish Florida.

He is British so I put the flag on his background.

The Historic Savannah Theatre is on the east side!

And it looks like this on mine! It's nice icon isn't it?

The building on the west side...

is this.

The tour bus is running around the square often today.

It's really nice place.

The screenprint poster is available here if you like! Thanks for watching :-)
